TG Collective
“A glorious combination of gypsy hotclub, flamenco, jazz and contemporary classical influences underpin this superb ensemble, built around a core of two guitarists. An exciting, sensuous sound described rightly by The Times as ‘Stylish – very stylish’…”
CHELTENHAM JAZZ FESTIVAL 2009
Latest … TG Collective appear on BBC1’s Politics Show – January 2010!
The TG Collective was born in September 2006, bringing together a spirited brew of young, Birmingham-based musicians. The group was founded by Jamie Fekete and Sam Slater – two of the three guitars of Trio Gitano, whose debut album Who Ate All The Tapas? surprised everyone, finishing 2005 at No.4 in the Sunday Times’ Records of the Year.

“A triumph…” – THE SUNDAY TIMES ****
“Bold, expressive playing that’s liberatingly inventive…” – SONGLINES ****
Moving through flamenco, jazz, gypsy, hotclub and contemporary classical influences, the group is centered around the two acoustic guitars of Jamie and Sam, set alongside a core of Percy Pursglove on double bass, cajon and trumpet; Holly Jones on flute and alto flute, Louis Robinson on violin, and world percussionist/cajon player Tom Chapman. TGC also feature eminent flamenco dancer and choreographer Ana Garcia, with interchanging shapes and sizes of ensemble within a performance.
Touching on the influences and new arrangements of works by such luminaries as Paco de Lucia, Django Reinhardt and Horace Silver, the Collective also perform self-penned compositions and arrangements, and music by longstanding TG Guru Bryan Lester.
“As refreshing as it is infectious…” – JAZZWISE ***
Recent tours have seen the group in great demand, taking in dates at the South Bank Centre, The Stables, St Georges Bristol, consecutive appearances at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Shambala Festival, Belfast’s Open House Festival, two tours in Ireland, and several intimate Rural Village Tours across England.
“Dazzling dynamic…” – THE METRO *****
TGC are finally set to release their long-awaited follow-up album to Who Ate All The Tapas? in 2010, with their 2010 tour dates supported by The PRS Foundation for New Music.
